BLACK ICE WARNING - risk of black ice overnight and Christmas Eve morning

A spell of rain pushing northwards over Ireland this evening and tonight will turn patchy the further north it gets over tonight with clear spell developing.

Under clear sky's with the risk of wet roads this will allow air and surface temperatures to drop overnight and on Christmas eve morning leading to a risk of icy road conditions with some black ice in places too.

Note even with air temperatures around 2C to 3C ground or surface temperatures can be much lower and below freezing allowing ice to form
